Privacy Policy

Hush Touch is designed with privacy as a core principle. Here's exactly what we collect and why.

Data Controller

Hush Touch (operated by AI Chat Systems LLC), contactable at hush@hushtouch.com, is the data controller responsible for your personal data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable data protection laws.

What Stays on Your Mac (Everything Important)

• Your voice and transcriptions — All audio processing happens 100% on-device using Apple's speech recognition. Your voice never leaves your Mac.
• Session history — Your recent dictations are stored locally for your reference.
• Custom vocabulary — Words you teach the app stay on your computer.
• App settings and preferences — Stored locally in your Library folder.

We cannot see, access, or retrieve any of this data. It's yours alone.

What We Collect (License Validation Only)

When you activate or validate your license, we collect:

Website Analytics

Our website (hushtouch.com) uses the Meta Pixel, a snippet of JavaScript provided by Meta Platforms, Inc., to measure the effectiveness of our advertising and understand how visitors interact with our website. The Meta Pixel collects:

This tracking applies only to our website, not the Hush Touch desktop application. The app itself collects no analytics, telemetry, crash reports, or tracking data. For more information on how Meta processes data, see Meta's Privacy Policy.

You can opt out of Meta's tracking by adjusting your Facebook ad preferences or using browser extensions that block tracking scripts.

Legal Basis for Processing

We process your data under GDPR Article 6(1)(b) — processing necessary for the performance of a contract. We need your license key, machine ID, and email to fulfill your software purchase and enforce the license terms you agreed to.

International Data Transfers

Your license data is processed via Cloudflare, Inc., which operates servers globally, including in the United States. Cloudflare participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and maintains Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for data transferred outside the EEA. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Payment is processed by Stripe, Inc., certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. See Stripe's privacy policy.

Permissions We Request

• Microphone — To hear your voice for dictation (processed on-device)
• Speech Recognition — To convert speech to text (on-device)
• Accessibility — To insert text into other applications
• Network — Only for license validation with hushtouch.com

Data Retention

• License data is retained while your license is active
• Deactivating your license removes your machine ID from our records
• Email addresses are retained only for license delivery and support; you can request deletion at any time
• We don't retain any usage data because we don't collect any

Your Rights (GDPR)

Under GDPR and applicable EU/EEA data protection laws, you have the right to:

• Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Rectification — Request correction of inaccurate personal data
• Erasure — Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
• Restriction — Request that we limit how we use your data
• Portability — Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
• Object — Object to our processing of your personal data
• Withdraw consent — Where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time (note: our processing is based on contract performance, not consent)
• Lodge a complaint — File a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority if you believe your rights have been violated

To exercise any of these rights, email hush@hushtouch.com. We will respond within 30 days.

You can also:

• Deactivate your license from the app to remove your machine ID
• Use the app offline (30-day grace period between validations)

Children's Privacy

Hush Touch is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Third-Party Model Attribution

Hush Touch Local AI uses NVIDIA Parakeet TDT 0.6B v3 as an underlying speech recognition model.

This attribution is provided to satisfy applicable third-party license requirements. NVIDIA and Parakeet are trademarks or product names of their respective owners, and their use in Hush Touch does not imply endorsement.

Apple App Store Disclosures

This section covers the disclosures Apple requires for apps distributed on the macOS App Store. It mirrors the App Privacy answers we file in App Store Connect.

App Privacy "Nutrition Label"

Hush Touch's App Store privacy answer is "Data Not Collected" for the application itself. The Hush Touch macOS app does not collect any of the data categories defined by Apple (Contact Info, Health & Fitness, Financial Info, Location, Sensitive Info, Contacts, User Content, Browsing History, Search History, Identifiers, Purchases, Usage Data, Diagnostics, or Other Data) from inside the app.

Direct (non-App Store) purchases: If you buy Hush Touch directly from hushtouch.com, we collect your email, license key, and machine ID through our own systems for license fulfillment, as described in the Privacy Policy section above. App Store purchases are handled by Apple and do not transmit purchase or identity data to us.

App Tracking Transparency (ATT)

Hush Touch does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies, and does not present an App Tracking Transparency prompt. We do not use third-party advertising SDKs, attribution SDKs, or analytics SDKs in the app.

Permissions and Purpose Strings

Apple requires every sensitive permission to be accompanied by a purpose string explaining why it is needed. Hush Touch uses the following:

No Third-Party SDKs that Collect Data

The Hush Touch macOS app does not embed any third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, marketing, A/B testing, or crash-reporting SDKs. The only network traffic the app generates is direct license validation requests to hushtouch.com (for direct-purchase customers) and, when applicable, App Store receipt validation handled by Apple's own frameworks.

Children & Age Rating

Hush Touch is rated 4+ on the App Store and is not directed at children. The app does not contain ads, in-app purchases marketed to children, user-generated content discoverable to others, social features, location sharing, or unrestricted web access. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction).

In-App Purchases & Subscriptions

Hush Touch is sold as either an auto-renewing monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. You can cancel any time — for App Store purchases, in your Apple ID subscription settings; for direct (Stripe) purchases, via the customer portal link in your purchase email. Lifetime purchases are a single charge with no recurring billing. There are no consumable in-app purchases.

Refunds for App Store Purchases

App Store purchases are subject to Apple's refund policy. Submit refund requests through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We are not able to process refunds on Apple's behalf for App Store purchases, but we are happy to help you with technical issues at hush@hushtouch.com.

Standard Apple EULA

If you obtain Hush Touch from the macOS App Store, your use is governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Standard EULA), in addition to any applicable terms in the EULA section below. To the extent the two conflict for App Store users, Apple's Standard EULA controls.

Account & Data Deletion

Apple App Store Guideline 5.1.1(v) requires that any app supporting account creation must also let users initiate account and data deletion. Hush Touch does not require an account to use the app, but here's exactly how to delete anything we (or your Mac) hold on your behalf.

Delete Local Data (Everything On Your Mac)

1. Open Hush Touch from the menu bar.
2. Choose Settings → Advanced → Reset All Data. This erases your session history, custom vocabulary, voice snippets, per-app profiles, and preferences.
3. Or, simply drag Hush Touch.app to the Trash and empty it. Then remove ~/Library/Application Support/Hush Touch and ~/Library/Preferences/com.hushtouch.*.

Delete License Data (Direct Purchase Only)

For licenses purchased directly from hushtouch.com:

1. In the app, choose Settings → License → Deactivate this device. This removes your machine ID from our license server.
2. To erase your email, license key, and any remaining records from our license server, email hush@hushtouch.com from the address used at purchase, with the subject "Delete my account". We will confirm and complete deletion within 30 days.

Delete App Store Purchase Records

If you purchased Hush Touch on the macOS App Store, your purchase record is held by Apple, not by us. Manage or hide that record from your Apple Account at privacy.apple.com.

What Cannot Be Deleted

We may need to retain a minimal record of refunded or revoked licenses (license key + revocation timestamp, no personal identifiers) to prevent abuse. This record contains no personal data once your email has been deleted.

End User License Agreement (EULA)

By installing or using Hush Touch, you agree to this End User License Agreement. If you do not agree, do not install or use the software.

1. License Grant

Hush Touch grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the software on up to three (3) devices that you own or control, for personal or commercial use.

2. Ownership

The software is licensed, not sold. Hush Touch retains all intellectual property rights in the software, including all copies, modifications, and derivative works.

3. Restrictions

You may not:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the software, except where this restriction is expressly prohibited by applicable EU law (Directive 2009/24/EC)
• Modify, adapt, or create derivative works
• Redistribute, sublicense, rent, or lease the software
• Remove or alter any proprietary notices
• Use the software for any unlawful purpose

4. EU Consumer Right of Withdrawal

If you are a consumer in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the date of purchase under the EU Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU).

Important: By purchasing and downloading the software, you expressly consent to the immediate delivery of digital content and acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal once the license key has been delivered and the download or activation has begun, in accordance with Article 16(m) of the Consumer Rights Directive.

If you have not yet activated your license key, you may request a full refund within 14 days of purchase by emailing hush@hushtouch.com.

5. Refund Policy

• EU/EEA consumers: See the withdrawal right above. Refunds for unactivated licenses are available within 14 days of purchase.
• All users: If you experience a technical issue that prevents the software from functioning and we cannot resolve it, contact hush@hushtouch.com and we will work with you on a resolution, which may include a refund.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NONINFRINGEMENT.

For consumers in the EU/EEA: This disclaimer does not affect your statutory rights under applicable consumer protection laws, including the right to a product that conforms to the contract description and is fit for its intended purpose.

7. Limitation of Liability

IN NO EVENT SHALL HUSH TOUCH BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY.

For consumers in the EU/EEA: This limitation does not exclude or limit liability for (a) death or personal injury caused by negligence, (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or (c) any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable EU/EEA law.

8. Termination

This license is effective until terminated. Your rights under this license will terminate automatically if you fail to comply with any of its terms. Upon termination, you must delete all copies of the software.

9. Updates to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via email or in-app notice. Continued use of the software after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. The date at the top of this page indicates the last update.

10. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

• EU/EEA consumers: These terms are governed by the laws of your country of residence. You may bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence. Nothing in these terms affects your rights under mandatory EU consumer protection laws. You may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform.
• All other users: These terms shall be governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.

11. Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid under applicable law (including EU/EEA consumer protection law), the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
